New Zealand volcano: No survivors left on island after eruption kills at least five

Police do not believe there are any survivors still on an island where a volcano erupted, killing at least five people.

No signs of life were observed when police, rescue and military aircraft flew over White Island following the explosion.

Of the 23 people who were rescued from the island, five died and the remaining 18 were injured, including some with severe burns.

A number of people are missing and believed to be dead on the island.
