New Delhi:  Home minister Amit Shah introduced the citizenship amendment bill.  Shah said the bill is not even .001 percentages harmful to the minorities.  His statement was accepted with wide uproar from the ruling faction and  with much protest from the opposition.

He said Muslims from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh will not be benefited from the bill as ‘they have not faced religious prosecution’.

He said non-Muslims were highly discriminated in these three countries.  The bill aimed to give citizenship to those who were prosecuted over religion in these countries.

He dismissed the allegation that this bill will take away the right of Muslims in the country.

Protest is sparked against the bill from the opposition and from the section of people in Assam and Tripura.  The opposition alleged that the bill will trigger religious segregation.
