Event Highlight: World-Renowned Dr. Dan Siegel speaks on The Science and Practice of Presence

World-renowned researcher, author, and speaker Dr. Dan Siegel has spoken for the King of Thailand, Pope John Paul II, The Dalai Lama, Google University, London’s Royal Society of Arts (RSA), and millions of others. Now he's speaking for you in Santa Barbara at The Consciousness Network’s event on Friday, December 13, to be held in Hahn Hall at The Music Academy of the West. Tickets can be purchased here.

Dr. Siegel's lecture will expand on his latest book, "Aware: The Science and Practice of Presence,” and aims to show each attendee how to harness their inner power to focus attention, open awareness, and cultivate the kind of confident attitude that promotes a healthy brain while reducing fear, anxiety, and stress. He will also show attendees an in-depth look at the science underlying meditation's proven effectiveness. 

Following this practice, Dr. Siegel states it will help improve energy and emotional resilience, become more focused and present and mindful, grow a healthier brain, reduce stress, and increase happiness.

As an international best-selling author, Dr. Siegel has been recognized as a leading expert in neuroscience, personal growth, and mind-body wellness. He is a clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine and the founding co-director of the Mindful Awareness Research Center at UCLA. He is also the Executive Director of the Mindsight Institute which focuses on the development of mindsight, which teaches insight, empathy, and integration in individuals, families and communities.

Dr. Siegel has published five New York Times bestsellers including Mind: A Journey to the Heart of Being Human, Brainstorm: The Power and Purpose of the Teenage Brain, and two books with Tina Payne Bryson, Ph.D: The Whole-Brain Child and No-Drama Discipline. He also serves as the Founding Editor for the Norton Professional Series on Interpersonal Neurobiology which contains over seventy textbooks.

The event will take place on Friday, December 13 at 6:30 p.m. inside Hahn Hall at Music Academy of the West, 1070 Fairway Road in Santa Barbara. Tickets can be purchased here.
