Men found guilty of raping girl at St Aubin's Fort decades ago

TWO men who took it in turns to rape a 'vulnerable and isolated' teenage girl at St Aubin's Fort decades ago have been found guilty following a five-day trial in the Royal Court.

Defendant Ian Lee Pryor (51) stared at his family and supporters in the public gallery, some of whom broke down in tears, and mouthed the word 'how' multiple times as the foreman of the jury of six men and five women delivered their majority verdict after more than eight hours of deliberations spanning two days.

One member of the public ran to hug Pryor as he was led away before shouting obscenities at his co-defendant Anthony John Quant (51), who is already serving a 12-year jail term for multiple counts of rape, indecent assault and sodomy.

Pryor, who is now on the Sex Offenders Register, was found guilty of two counts of rape and Quant guilty of one count of rape and one of indecent assault.

The men are due to be sentenced by the Royal Court's Superior Number, which convenes only for the most serious cases, on Thursday 6 February.
