London’s Norma restaurant brings a taste of Sicily to the city

Italian and North African influences fuse inside new London restaurant Norma, which takes over a Georgian townhouse in Fitzrovia.
Local practice Rosendale Design crafted layered interiors for the eatery – which serves Sicilian dishes by The Stafford hotel’s culinary director Ben Tish – taking cues from the island’s storied history.
Moorish elements emerge via Norma’s rich colour palette – think burnt reds, terracotta and soft clay contrasted by black shutters and tables and chairs by Inside Out. Elsewhere, geometric tiles are inlaid with Islamic motifs, and gilded mirrors and green Italian marble surfaces complete the Mediterranean look.
Tish’s menu is packed with classic Sicilian dishes such as cannelloni, ricotta, lemon, chilli and Swiss chard topped with shaved parmesan; and fresh taglioni with sardines, fennel, pine nuts and raisins.
