BREAKING: Man, 35, dies after being hit by ambulance in early morning crash

A pedestrian has died after being struck by an ambulance, police in Oxfordshire have said.

The 35-year-old man was killed in a crash at 3.40am today.

In a statement Thames Valley Police said: "Thames Valley Police is investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the A34 in Oxfordshire.

"At around 3.20am today (29/11), the force received a report of a collision between an ambulance and a pedestrian on the northbound carriageway of the A34, between the junctions for Peartree and Islip.

"Officers attended the scene where sadly the pedestrian, a man aged 35, had died.

"Next of kin have been made aware and are being supported by specialist officers.

"One lane of the A34 remains closed northbound at this time between Hinksey and Peartree while the road surface repairs are completed."
