Arsenal fans make Mikel Arteta demand following Unai Emery sacking

Manchester City assistant manager Mikel Arteta is being linked with the vacant managerial role at Arsenal.

Arsenal fans have demanded the club consider Mikel Arteta as their next manager following the departure of Unai Emery.

The Spaniard was sacked by Arsenal on Friday morning after 18 months in charge at The Emirates and will be replaced by club favourite Freddie Ljungberg on an interim basis.

Arsenal have now begun their search for a new manager with Wolves head coach Nuno Espírito Santo the early favourite to land the job.

However, many supporters believe Arteta should be considered for the success he has achieved while working under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

Arteta was a contender for the Arsenal job in 2018 before Emery's appointment and he was also considered as a potential replacement for Rafa Benitez at Newcastle earlier this year.

Following the latest sacking Arsenal fans are now keen to see the 37-year-old given a chance.
